Our team wouldn’t be what it is without each person doing their best. Meet a new member to our team – Pascal Valadier! Pascal joins my wine family and we are pleased to have Pascal as the Winemaker & Vineyard Manager. Pascal’s winemaking style is well-suited to the winery’s focus on small lot production which are loyal clients are accustomed to here at Chateau O’Brien at Northpoint.
Pascal was born and raised in the Southwest part of France in his family’s winery and vineyard. This region is very similar to our Virginia terroir. The varietal grape that put my winery on the map originates from this appellation.
He was the Winemaker & Vineyard manager for the best wineries in Oregon for the past 22 years.
He graduated from DUEG of Natural Science in Biochemistry 5 Horticulture (strong vineyard orientation), University of Science, Reims, France.
Also earned a Diploma National D’Oenologie, University de Montpellier 1, France.
“Our focus has always been that wines are made in the vineyard first,” explains Howard O’brien “and as no single bottling of ours is more than a few hundred cases, having Pascal on board with his ability to create wines which bring out the best possible characteristics of each vineyard is something I am really excited about to say nothing of the fact I am looking forward to enjoying the whole process; Pascal has a terrific personality.”
These techniques and knowledge allow the varietal character and terroir of Chateau O’Brien at Northpoint Winery & Vineyard to be stars of the show.
